「望龍埤」又名軟埤，位在宜蘭縣枕頭山休閒農業園區湖山國小後處。早在數百多年前即因為地形山洪爆發、土石沖刷，在目前大礁溪山麓，自然形成一座湖泊，海拔較高，湖水水位是隨著雨水量升降，因此湖中水量與當地居民生活息息相關，地方耆老則依「風從虎」、「雲從龍」之古諺，而取該湖名「望龍」，祈求雲雨滋生，造福蒼生。
碧綠的湖中有座小島，島上建置一座涼亭，名為「望龍亭」，坐在亭裡俺受涼風輕拂，是炎夏裡最佳的享受，別有一番詩意。環繞望龍埤四周的環湖步道，及通往山頂的登山步道，沁涼舒適，適合全家大小健行休閒的好去處，步道沿途視野極佳，高處可俯瞰望龍埤的美貌，還有徐徐微風吹拂，讓人心曠神怡，流連忘返。
Wanglong Lake is also called “Soft Pond”, located on the area behind
Hu-Shan Elementary School. About hundred years ago, a flash flood
came and changed the landscape. The water level of the lake depends on
the rainfall and it affects local daily life. Because of the relation between
the lake and the locals, the name “Wanglong”, based on the old saying
“Tigers control the wind” and “Dragons control the cloud”, wishing for the
rain come frequently to benefit all the creatures.
